Parenting Program Review
My indepth review of "The Total Transfortation®" Program by James Lehman
by Amin Virani
Are you in need of help to deal with a defiant and obnoxious child? I have been involved as a trainer and coach in the field of self development for the last 20 years, I am usually quite skeptical about any programs that offer quick fix solutions or Nescafe solutions. I firmly believe in inside-out approach and that the way to solve any problem is by working on the ‘self’ rather than ‘behavior’.
But I also know that if the tools and techniques related to behavior are applied along with the shift in the being, they can be very useful as part of the overall strategy.
In the above context, I will be reviewing James Lehman's The Total Transformation program. Briefly speaking, following are the pros and cons:
This program has both written component (workbook) and the audio visual material through cds and dvds and this is definitely a better delivery methodology from pedagogical point of view. This makes it a very effective program in terms of delivery method. One always enjoys and retains more when the audio and videos are used for communication.
The Total Transformation program offers an interactive preview which one can experience in the same audio and video form before deciding to buy the program. This is definitely a big plus.
The approach of James Lehman is very original and refreshing and goes against the conventional wisdom or therapy. And that is where it scores above other similar programs. Eg. Should we treat siblings in the same way or differently? He thinks it should always be ‘different strokes for different folks’.
Also, the course takes into account that there is nothing called ‘perfect parenting’ and the issue is always with the parents rather than the sibling. The parents parent the child based on their notion of how they were as kids and hence end up asking for a child other than the one they have now. The need is to realize that the child is the ‘future’ and the parent is the ‘past’. Forget the past ideal child and work with the future real child.
Yet another dimension that needs to be looked at is the ‘Martyr’ dimension which most parents play. The child never wakes up until the mother shouts 7 times, parent ends up doing the homework leading to ‘learned helplessness’. Parents act in this manner for ego gratification without realizing the same, taking away the opportunity for the child to become responsible for his or her behavior and life.
All in all, I must admit that Total Transformation Program is definitely a couple of notches above any other similar program available. And price wise, it seems very reasonable and well worth the investment.
I have listed additional points that can work as Tips for the parents to handle children who are affected with ADD or ADHD which emerge out of this Total Transformation Program. They will be handy reading if you would like to learn some basic but fundamental points we need to take care while parenting our children. It includes mistakes to avoid as well as techniques and strategies to deploy to get our children back on to their responsible being and behavior. Hopefully, you will find this material on my website useful and may be life transforming, as you will continue to be in touch with my material and begin implementing the same on an ongoing basis.
Remember one fundamental aspect.
There is no sliver bullet solution. Like we brush the teeth every morning, we need to nurture and cultivate the relationship every single day, hour and may be minute by being conscious of our interactions with our loved ones.
If you want to check out The Total Transformation program, James Lehman is offering a free trial. This is without a doubt one of the best feature of the program as it allows the parents to try the program and see for themselves if the program is helpful to them.
